The new year began with a still life painting workshop at the Scottsdale Art School, Scottsdale, AZ (my first time there!) with Kelli Folsom, whom I've had a unique opportunity of studying with "on-line" through VITAL Art Sessions. It was great to meet Kelli and several others from my online group, to paint and study with them! I came home so full of wonderful instruction and memories.
Returning home to Monterey, I "hit the ground running" to prepare for being the Featured Artist at Venture Gallery, 260 Alvarado St., Monterey, for the month of February. My show is titled, "Painting Light."
Capturing the light is my inspiration, whether painting still life, seascapes, or landscape. Light is fleeting outdoors, whereas in a still life, the artist has more time to watch the light caress and glance over each object, flowing into and out of shadow, reflecting, moving, while also capturing the vitality of light defining shape & color. Using light, paint & canvas, I desire to paint beauty that transcends, transforms, and inspires others to see the beauty in our surroundings.
I'd love for you to come see my work if you are local!
